G-Rilla and Robert Anthony temporarily formed a tag team in December 2007, but Murdoch was terminated from his WWE contract on February 4, 2008.

Murdoch re-signed with WWE in January 2010 and was assigned to FCW. Murdoch forged an alliance with The Uso Brothers, Tamina, and Donny Marlow in March, once again utilizing the moniker G-Rilla. On the December 14, 2010 episode of NXT, he made his in-ring debut, teaming up with DiBiase to defeat Byron Saxton and his coach Chris Masters. On the January 25 episode of NXT, Clay won a four-way elimination match, earning the right to choose a new Pro. On the January 9, 2012 broadcast of Raw, Clay made his television debut as a face (heroic character) with a fun-loving, funk dancing gimmick and the nickname “The Funkasaurus,” and began using Ernest “The Cat” Miller’s theme music “Somebody Call My Momma.”

For Total Impact Wrestling, he acquired the ring name Tyrus in 2014. Tyrus called Greg Gutfeld out on Twitter a year later. Thus, a friendship was born, and the rest is history. Since then, he’s appeared on Gutfeld’s shows and contributed to a number of other Fox News Channel smash shows, including Outnumbered, Fox & Friends, The Five, and The Daily Briefing.
