Yoo is a proud alumnus of Kyung Hee University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in theater. He kicked off his entertainment career in the year 2000 as a video jockey on Mnet and made his acting debut in the TV series School 4 in 2001. He later hosted the music program Music Camp in the year 2004. In 2005, he secured his first lead role in SBS’s Hello My Teacher and continued to make a mark with the romantic comedy Coffee Prince in the year 2007, solidifying his position as a Hallyu star.

His diverse roles in films like “Kim Ji-young: Born 1982” in the year 2018 and the action thriller “Seo Bok” in the year 2021 showcased his versatility. Yoo also made a special appearance in Kim Tae-yong’s film Wonderland, confirmed in March 2020. In the year 2021, he played a key role in the Netflix series “Squid Game”. Additionally, he appeared in the Netflix original sci-fi thriller series “The Silent Sea” in December 2021, which gained global attention despite mixed fan responses.
