Yoo is a proud alumnus of Kyung Hee University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree in theater. He kicked off his entertainment career in the year 2000 as a video jockey on Mnet and made his acting debut in the TV series School 4 in 2001. He later hosted the music program Music Camp in the year 2004. In 2005, he secured his first lead role in SBS’s Hello My Teacher and continued to make a mark with the romantic comedy Coffee Prince in the year 2007, solidifying his position as a Hallyu star.

After completing mandatory military service, he returned with the romantic comedy Finding Mr. Destiny in the year 2010 and took on a significant role in the adaptation of Gong Ji-young’s novel The Crucible, internationally released as Silenced.
