Wielgus serves at WKRN News 2 as a co-anchor of the 5, 6, and 10 p.m. newscasts with Bob Mueller. Her work position allows her to get out in the field often which is something she loves. Before joining WKRN, she served in multiple roles at WWSB ABC 7 in Sarasota, Florida for more than six years.
She was previously a morning and noon anchor and later on, she shifted to being an evening news anchor. In addition, she covered special assignments and health stories. She appeared as a guest on the station’s “Suncoast View” talk show and has often hosted live political and community-news-focused round table discussions.
She covered presidential election campaigns during their many stops through the swing state of Florida in 2012 and 2016. At the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, she also reported live. In addition to WWSB, she also worked in Washington, D.C for Bloomberg Television, and in Tyler, Texas she worked at KYTX CBS 19 as a weekend anchor and reporter.
Away from work, for quite a number of years, she has been involved with Special Olympics Tennessee organization and she was a certified swim coach in Florida and Texas. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics Tennessee.
She has been a huge volunteer to many organizations including; the Nashville Pi Beta Phi alumnae club, Big Brothers Big Sister, and, Junior League. She was a former dancer and swimmer and later on, she became a runner who completed five half-marathons. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her dogs, Jade and Mattie, and her husband, Max Winitz.
