Kovar has served at CBS6 – WRGB in Albany, New York as an anchor of the weekend morning newscasts. She was suspended at the station in July 2022. While in suspension, she notified her bosses of her plans to resign from the station completely. She was supposed to renew her contract on July 31, 2022, but she declined the renewal.

She has worked across the globe and has won an Emmy award for both anchoring and reporting. She started her career at KXAS in Dallas. In the Dallas/Fort Worth area, she worked on-air cable and radio. She made a move to upstate New York where she worked as an anchor and reporter at WKTV in Utica. Kovar has covered several National Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremonies including Nolan Ryan’s 1999. The same year she was a reporter in Hillary Clinton’s Upstate Listening Tour. She was also featured in the press pool as Clinton toured the New York senate campaign.

From there Heather worked at RNN in Kingston. That’s where she was living during 9/11, planning coverage of the New York City mayoral primary that day. She moved to Manhattan in 2002 where was freelancing for Reuters business news, delivering stock reports from the NASDAQ. At News 12 Connecticut when she accepted the morning anchor position, she worked for various other news outlets. Kovar then commuted for 8 years from New York.

She has won two New York Emmy awards during her stay at News 12, an Edward R. Murrow award, and also numerous Associated Press and other awards, including Best On-Air Personality from Fairfield Weekly readers. When coming to her education, she graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor’s in Journalism and psychology. Kovar enjoys playing guitar and writing songs as well as painting.
