In February 2008, there was a blizzard, as well as Hurricanes Sandy and Irene that left cars stranded under snow on the Long Island Expressway. Hurricanes Sandy hit the tri-state area with a great impact for 3 whole weeks with the suspension of mass transit and the inundated tunnels with water.
