Woods serves at FOX 5 NY as a Weekday Morning Meteorologist. He began as a weekend meteorologist at the station and in October of 2003, he made a transition to a weekday morning meteorologist. Previously, he was forecasting weather in the deserts of Phoenix(1996 – 2001).
Woods has covered everything from Nor’Easters to blizzards to heatwaves to hurricanes all throughout his career. Recently, he covered Hurricane Irene and took 3 days on-air covering it. He got his start as a morning/noon weather anchor of a station in Eastern North Carolina, that is, from the year 1993 to the year 1996. There he covered various hurricanes like Hurricanes Fran and Bertha in the year 1996.
Woods holds an American Meteorological Society(AMS) Seal of Approval. He is also a proud nominee of an Emmy for best weather forecast, for which he was nominated by the NATAS. In the year 2009, McDonald awarded Woods the Black Media Legends award.
Woods is a big volunteer of charitable organizations. Most recently, he volunteered for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through the program, Team in Training, where he raised more than $10,000. The program is dedicated to training triathletes, hikers, runners, cyclists, and walkers for events to raise money for patients suffering from cancer, as well as their loved ones. Woods is also a Patron for the Fox News Apprentice Program. This is a diversity program that helps young professionals and students who are interested in pursuing a career in journalism and broadcasting. He is also a member and a strong supporter of several organizations; Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Ronald McDonald House, 100 Black Men Inc of New York and its Eagle Academy, AYUDA for the Arts, and Housing Works.
During his leisure, he likes running(he has completed a triathlete), skiing, or working on his body fitness. He has been in Muscle and Fitness magazine in the column of “Real People”.
