She also took coverage of the Naval Air Station shooting in Pensacola when a student, who officials discovered was in contact with al-Qaida, killed 3 United States sailors.
During Patel’s stint in college, she went to Urbino, Italy, to report on earthquake damage in the nearby town of Camerino. Also, she went to Memphis, Tennessee, where she reported on the 50th anniversary and commemoration of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. There, she was doing the coverage along with the National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate.
Patel was part of the news crew that received a regional Edward R. Murrow “Overall Excellence” Award. This award was for breaking news coverage in the year 2021, as well as news coverage in the year 2020. She serves in the community by volunteering at Lifeworks International. Recently, she volunteered as a Club Member of Kiwanis International for 3 years and 10 months. During her leisure, she likes to watch Indian Bollywood films, cook, tries new restaurants, or spend time with her dog, Raja.
