Before joining the station, he worked for WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, New York as a fill-in anchor and multi-media journalist.
During his time at WGRZ, Preval covered many major stories that won him awards. He was the main reporter for the Bethlehem Steel fire coverage, and for this, he was awarded an Edward R. Murrow. Preval was also among the WGRZ crew that contributed to the station’s winning of an Emmy award for covering the ‘Snowvember’ storm in the year 2014. He also provided live coverage from places hit by disasters during Hurricanes Maria and Harvey. Preval has been a proud nominee for 3 awards from NABJ – the National Association of Black Journalists, called the Salute to Excellence awards.
Before Preval moved to to Buffalo, NY, he was in Altoona, Pennsylvania working for WTAJ-TV. There he mainly reported on the Jerry Sandusky Scandal at Penn State University. Preval was there when the ‘Penn State riot’ happened, and he was on the scene when Penn State students flipped over WTAJ’s live truck. The coverage earned the WTAJ-TV an award for the ‘Best Breaking News’ from the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters.
Preval started his journalism career at WCBS 880AM in New York City. He began as a desk assistant and the Press Club of Long Island honored him with an award for a radio feature. When it comes to his education, Preval is a proud alumnus of Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism.
