He can be seen daily on Good Morning Nashville, chasing breaking news and weather for the First Alert Unit. During his time in WKRN, he has covered many stories including the robbery of a bank where a police officer was shot and his K-9 partner killed. This story led to him winning an Emmy award.

Jerry Barlar Career
In 2013, he covered the rescue of an infant during a flood in Madison which made him win an Edward R. Murrow award. During the Kirby Wallace capture, Barlar and Maura Sirianni were the only crew that had live coverage of the capture this made him win an AP award. In addition, he had photos of a tornado that came through Ashland City in Cheatham County.
When he is not at work he enjoys spending time with his family. Most recently he began a 501(c)(3) to help children after they lost their parents. After covering a lethal house fire that killed five of seven family members, he began the Lily Rose Foundation. The foundation was named after Lily and Rose the children who survived the fire but their parents did not and are now in the custody of their grandmother. His wise is to develop the foundation and to help other children found in similar circumstances.
