Szwed relocated to the Capital Region from Lexington, Kentucky, the world’s horse capital. She covered everything from tornadoes to severe storms to (some) snow and ice, flooding, and more throughout her four years at WLEX. She’s also aired live from the Kentucky Derby, Keeneland, a PGA Tour tournament, and a variety of other local events.
Szwed’s career started at WDTV in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Jill was born and raised in western Pennsylvania. During middle school, snowstorms, a tornado in downtown Pittsburgh, and flooding events piqued her interest in the weather. She possesses the renowned Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal and is a member of the American Meteorological Society.
Throughout the year, she supports all of the teams that wear black and gold, including the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. She is ecstatic to be relocating to Upstate New York.
