Matt grew raised in Bethesda, Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C. Snowstorms, heat waves, and the odd hurricane piqued his interest in the weather.
Matt worked as a Meteorologist and Reporter at WGXA-TV in Macon, Georgia (home of Little Richard, Otis Redding, and the Allman Brothers!) after graduation. During Hurricane Irma in 2017, Matt remained on the air for hours at a time, keeping viewers safe as gusty winds and torrential rain slammed over Middle Georgia.
During Hurricane Michael in 2018, he did it again, providing news to his sister station in Albany, Georgia, when 70 mph winds knocked them off the air. Matt covered everything from storm damage to breaking news to city council sessions as a reporter. He also dabbled in investigative reporting, assisting a group of Alabama students in locating one of their science class projects… a missing weather balloon over Georgia!
Matt is thrilled to be at News10, where he will be tasked with forecasting the weather across New York, Vermont, and Massachusetts! After a few years in Florida and Georgia, he is looking forward to seeing snow for the first time this winter. He’s always on the hunt for a fun area to take the Mobile Storm Tracker when the weather is nice.
