He filled in as a play-by-play announcer during the 2011, 2013, and 2016-2021 seasons. He also works in his advertising campaign, “Jim’s Day Off”. Day started his professional career in the year 1988, working his way onto the air for a network affiliate in a Top 35 market while still in college. He spent seven years at WSYX-TV, Channel 6, in various roles before taking a two-year break from television to travel with the American Basketball League.

After being off from TV for 2 ears, Day spent five years in Tampa, Florida, working for the ABC affiliate WFTS-TV and learning under Ted Koppel. He then returned to Ohio and joined Fox Sports Ohio in 2000, where he has remained ever since.

In addition to his work with Fox Sports Ohio, Day has covered various major sports as a host for the News Department of Fox Sports. He has served as the lead host for “FSN Live at the BCS Championship” and hosted “Musketeers Live” for Xavier Musketeers men’s basketball broadcasts. He was also the host of “Blue Jackets Live” for Columbus Blue Jackets broadcasts.

In the year 2014, Fox Sports Ohio announced that Day would work as a sideline reporter for all 145 games and provide reports for pre-and post-game coverage. Besides being a sports broadcaster, Day has also starred in the film “How We Lookin’?”.
