Berman is an American co-anchor currently working for CNN News for the New Day show. Previously, Berman tenured at the networks Newsroom where he co-anchored alongside Poppy Harlow, “At This Hour” with Kate Bolduan, and CNN’s “Early Start” with Christine Romans. Berman has been the network’s forefront anchor since joining the network. For the network, he has covered several headlines that include the Trump presidency, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 2020 election.

Prior to his joining the network, Berman tenured at ABC News since 1995 where he featured on television since 2001. There he served all the network broadcasts as a regular contributor that included “20/20,” “Nightline,” “World News with Diane Sawyer,” and “Good Morning America,” and also contributed to ABCNews.com.

Berman has also reported as the lead of theĀ 2012 GOP primaries in GMA’s coverage. He also during the GOP primaries in 2008 covered the presidential campaign featuring former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Republican candidates Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. and then-Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., in the general election.

Berman also served as the network off-air reporter from 1999 to 2000 where he covered the presidential campaign of George W. Bush. During his coverage, he became the only reporter who spent much of his time traveling with then-candidate Bush. He followed him to his early fundraisers to 45 states in the White House during its first months.

Berman has covered events that include the Iraq war into the best way to catch catfish barehanded. He has featured newsmakers from Lionel Richie to Barack Obama, from Iraq’s Prime Minister to MC Hammer. Berman has also worked during the Iraq invasion and the 2006 Lebanon-Israeli invasion as an embedded reporter. Additionally, Berman also did live coverage of the tsunami in the Indian Ocean from Banda Aceh, Indonesia, and during the American sports steroids scandal.

Berman later in the year 1997 was made the head writer for “World News Tonight With Peter Jennings” where he worked for two years. He later traveled with Jennings to Colorado on the Columbine school shooting and later to Cuba for the pope’s historic visit.

Berman also worked with Jennings throughout President Clinton’s impeachment. He also took part in the team that won the Edward R. Murrow award in the year 2004 for its best broadcasts and also in 2010 was awarded a James Beard Award. Berman began his career at ABC News where he served as a desk assistant in 1995 working the overnight shift.
