John Muller Career
John previously co-anchored PIX11 News at 6 and the station’s first-ever digital-only show, “Midday with Muller.” Following a three-year tenure at ABC News, he returned home to WPIX, where he hosted “World News Now and “America This Morning.” He also filled in as a “Good Morning America” newsreader and correspondent.
The founding male anchor/host for the PIX11 Morning News was John. The third-longest running New York City anchor to work on the same broadcast was his 11-year stint on the ground-breaking program. As an associate professor at Fordham University, John taught Television News Writing and Reporting. At his alma mater, New York University, he was also a guest lecturer.
The first tv break for Muller came when he picked up a position at WTOC-TV, a CBS affiliate in Savannah, Georgia. Muller earned an instant and intensive education on military news by filming and editing his own reports in most situations, as he wrote on troop mobilizations from Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield during the Panama raids and the Persian Gulf War.
He took a reporter job after two years at WBBH-TV, the NBC affiliate in Fort Myers, Florida, where he received the coveted “Best Individual Achievement Award” from the Associated Press for all-around success in the state of Florida. The dramatic coverage of hurricanes, including the destructive Hurricane Andrew, was among his most noticeable work. He was promoted to his first permanent anchor position, the weekend anchor desk.
