Karen was also an NPPA award-winning MMJ and reported on Hurricane Ida and the outcome that followed. Prior to joining News 12, Hua was a lifestyle host and a reporter for KGET-TV 17 from May 2018 to November 2020. During her tenure there, she was the lead reporter while covering the Stagecoach wildfire and as a result, won the Emmy award. Karen also made an investigation on officer-involved shooting and this led to the state asking for cameras for all sheriff deputies. In addition to this, she reported on earthquakes in Ridgecrest with 6.4 and 7.1 magnitude. Karen was also the host of Pop Kern, a weekly local living show.
