Marler has been working for WJHL serving as an evening news anchor at 5, 5:30, 6, and 11 p.m. since his promotion in October 2023. Prior to that, he served the station as a morning news anchor. He began serving the station as a weekend news anchor in 2009 after spending nearly a decade as a weekend sports anchor.
During his time at WJHL, Marler was awarded the 2011 and 2012 Tennessee Associated Press Best TV Sportscaster Award. In 2004, he and Sports Director Kenny Hawkins attained three Tennessee Best Sports Program TDFN Awards and The Virginia Associated Press Year-Round Sports Coverage Award.
Marler kickstarted his broadcasting career in Nebraska at KLKN and KHGI (NTV) and spent most of his career anchoring and reporting sports. After Nebraska, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he served KJRH before joining WJHL. Following his graduation, he accepted a producing job for a local sports program.
