Monday has worked in different parts of the nation experiencing multiple types of challenging weather along the way. He won an Emmy award for Best Weathercast in Nashville in January 2011. His background with the weather began when a child trying to overcome his fear of thunderstorms. This fear morphed into interest as he gained more knowledge about the weather and how it works.

Following his graduation from college, Monday relocated to Lubbock, Texas where he served KLBK as a forecaster. There, he gained experience broadcasting severe weather. From Amarillo, Monday moved to West Virginia where he broadcasted new kinds of weather dangers like heavy mountain snows and flooding rains. He served WOWK in Charleston/Huntington as a morning meteorologist for 3 years.

Monday tackled the remains of two hurricanes, Ivan and Frances, that went up the East Coast throughout his first month in the Mountain State. In 10 days, heavy rains caused considerable flooding all over the Appalachians. Additionally, he received several awards such as the Texas Associated Press Best Weathercast Award.
