While still in college, he chased several destructive hurricanes and tornadoes. Watts began his meteorology career at KATV-TV in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he was tenured as an intern. He later joined WLBT-TV in Jackson, Mississippi, where he served as a meteorologist for 5 years. Watts left WLBT-TV in Jackson, Mississippi to join WAAY-TV in Huntsville, Alabama.
There he served as a morning meteorologist for four years. He was also chosen as a member of a U.S.-led Cultural Exchange Consortium. During his leisure time, he loves spending time with his family and friends. In addition to that, he also enjoys storm chasing, playing tennis, and golf, and walking his dog, Sadie.
