In Amarillo, Texas, she got her first on-air job. She will always cherish her time in the Panhandle, where she could be chasing a tornado one day and covering a rodeo the next. Further, she moved from Amarillo to Dayton, Ohio, where she worked as a reporter and anchor. She moved to FOX6 from Dayton.
She is pleased with her role as a FOX6 anchor for so many major events, from the morning of September 11, 2001, through the momentous post-election mornings of 2008 and 2016. Also, she has served on the anchor desk when a major story occurs in our own backyard, such as the mass shooting at a Sikh temple in 2012.
She has marched with thousands of bikers in town for Harley-105th Davidson’s and 110th anniversaries as part of the unexpected Wakeup crew. Murphy reported from Soldiers Field in Chicago on bizarre American Idol tryouts. She had a few celebrity interviews here and there. Isn’t Wendy Williams one of them?
