On October 28, 2020, Sorensen posted her photo lying on a hospital bed, on her Facebook page. The caption of the post stated that her foot surgery went smoothly. She went ahead and stated that the doctor put synthetic cartilage in her big toe joint and removed a bone spur. Sorensen explained the reason for the surgery was she had arthritis in the big toe joint. The caption also said, “I think that dancing on pointe shoes might not have been good for the cartilage in those toe joints”. The surgery made her to be off her newscasts for quite a while, but she eventually recovered fully.
