He’s been a finalist for the Illinois Broadcasters Association’s best downstate sportscast award every year since 1993, winning it in 1994, 2003, and 2004. Since 2000, Kurt has been calling the state boys and girls basketball finals for the Illinois High School Association TV network.

For WMBD 31, he co-hosted telethons for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Easter Seals.
