Teachman serves at KSNW-TV as a Chief Meteorologist. It was at KSN that she started her journalism career (in the year 1996). At the time, she worked as a meteorology intern under the leadership of Dave Freeman, KSN’s former Chief Meteorologist who retired in May 2017.
After Teachman graduated from college, she went to work as a meteorologist at stations in Kansas City, Missouri; Baltimore, Maryland; and Huntington, West Virginia. Mentioning her education, Teachman is a proud alumnus of both Mississippi State University and Wichita State University, where she did her undergraduate studies.
Teachman holds a number of honors and awards, which she obtained throughout her career. The American Meteorological Society has honored her with their Seal of Approval. The Kansas Association of Broadcasters recognized Teachman in the years 2018 and 2020 for ‘best weathercast in Wichita.’ Teachman also holds an Emmy Award for her work as a meteorologist.
Teachman joined KSN with a 2-decade of professional experience in journalism, including a decade of severe weather forecasting in Missouri and Kansas. She provided live coverage of the catastrophic EF5 tornado from Joplin that struck Kansas city in the year 2011. In 2012 is when she had her first experience with a tornado and it was in Moundridge, Kansas.
She has always been passionate about meteorology since she was a youth. She has experienced 2 deadly tornadoes that hit her hometown, in the years 1999 and 1991. During her leisure time, she enjoys listening to country music and eating as much BBQ as she can!
