Sherrill started his career as the General Manager of WWCU-FM Power 90.5 in Cullowhee, NC, where he managed station operations from May 2010 to December 2011. He then moved to WBTV Charlotte, N.C. serving as a News Content Specialist from July 2012 to January 2014. From there, Sherrill went to work at Fox Television in Charlotte as a digital journalist reporter and sports and news Anchor from January 2014 to December 2016. After that, he now joined WDBJ-TV.
While working at WBTV, he reported on various events like hurricanes, the 2016 Charlotte riots, snowstorms, numerous NASCAR races, and NBA and NFL playoffs, just to name a few. Whatever the event, he was typically there with a microphone and camera. Over the years of his career, he has won an Emmy Award and an Edward R. Murrow Award, for his outstanding reporting and anchoring work.
