Before joining ABC7, he was in Salinas, California, working for the CBS affiliate, KION-TV. He spent 8 years there holding several positions, including evening anchor, which he got in the year 2010. During his tenure there, he was part of the team that won the station 3 consecutive regional Emmy Awards. The Emmys were for best newscast (small market) in Northern California. Cota-Robles’ duties of anchoring made an extension to KION-TV’s sister stations, KKFX FOX 11 and KCOY 12, in Santa Barbara and Santa Maria, California.
A proud alumnus of Chapman University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast television journalism, Cota-Robles started his TV career at KVII-TV in Amarillo, Texas. This was in the year 2006 when he served as a morning news anchor.
Other than working as a journalist, Cota-Robles has worked as an open-wheel race cars driver, where he competed in the Pro Mazda National Championship.
