He also serves as a co-host of “Race in America: The Conversation”, airing on KNTV. The show looks into fairness for different races and tries to bring people from different backgrounds and ages closer together.

Prior to joining KNTV, Washington worked as a Television News Anchor/Reporter at WJZ-TV in Baltimore, Maryland, from 2014 to 2017. He also gained valuable experience as a Television News Reporter at WTVF NewsChannel 5 in Nashville, Tennessee, for six years from 2008 to 2014. Before his time in Nashville, he was a Television News Reporter at KOKI FOX23 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for two years from 2006 to 2008.

Earlier in his career, he worked as a Television News Reporter at Gray Television, Inc. in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2005-2006. Washington began his journey in journalism as an Associate Producer at WREG-TV in Memphis, Tennessee, from November 2004 to March 2005.

While at WJZ, Washington reported on many different stories, but the event that had the biggest impact on his life and how he covered was the death of Freddie Gray and what happened afterward. He reported from the front lines during Freddie’s funeral, the political fallout, the city’s unrest, and the efforts to rebuild the community. Washington’s thoughtful and compassionate reporting during the unrest even won him to be nominated for an Emmy Award.

Washington had a dream of being someone who tells the news from a very young age. He says that he can still recall being 5 years old and telling his mom, “I want to do that,” while watching Joe Birch (a veteran Memphis news anchor) at work. His broadcasting career started when he was a student in college. He asked if he could read the news on Memphis’ WUMR-FM morning show, and on his 3rd day, the station manager invited him to fill in for a Thursday evening slot. After just 5 minutes on the air, the manager of the station was so impressed with Washington’s personality and voice. From that moment, Washington became among the hosts of the only jazz station in Memphis, TN.

Washington has received recognition from the Washington Post and the Baltimore Sun for his remarkable work as a journalist. He also found it flattering (and funny!) when Lifestyles Magazine called her one of “Nashville’s 25 Most Beautiful People” in the year 2011 and ranked #14 among “The 50 Hottest Anchors in the World” by Buzzfeed.com in the year 2017.
