Mark Fuhrman Career

Fuhrman serves at FOX News Channel (FNC) as a forensic and crime scene expert. He is remembered mainly for his role in solving the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in the O. J. Simpson assassination case. In 1995, Fuhrman was called to testify in the Simpson case about his finding of evidence, including a bloody glove found at the estate of Simpson.

During the early 1980s, Fuhrman was known to have used a racial epithet against African Americans but claimed on the stand that in the last ten years, he had not used the word. The prosecution team of Simpson provided recorded interviews with Fuhrman and witnesses indicating that during this time he had frequently used racial language.

Later, when asked under oath if he had planted or produced evidence in the lawsuit, Fuhrman invoked his right to respond to his Fifth Amendment. According to the prosecution, as part of a politically orchestrated conspiracy against Simpson, this increased the risk that Fuhrman had planted crucial facts.

As one reason Simpson was convicted, the audiotape that showed that Fuhrman perjured himself and thereby damaged the reputation of the prosecutor was cited. In 1995, Fuhrman resigned from the LAPD. For his misleading testimony relating to his use of racial epithets, he pleaded no contest to perjury in 1996.

Fuhrman claimed that he is not a bigot and apologized for his past use of racist language. His support was shared by some of his former minority colleagues. Fuhrman claims that in the Simpson case, he did not plant or produce evidence, and the defense team of Simpson did not show any evidence to contradict this claim. He believes Simpson is guilty of the murders. Fuhrman has published real crime books and anchored talk radio since his retirement from the LAPD.
