Furthermore, during the Papal Conclave that elected Pope Francis and during the funeral of Pope John Paul II she made the report from Rome, Italy.

When Pope Benedict’s traveled to Washington D.C for NBC Political Analyst and Buffalo native Tim Russert’s funeral, she traveled to New York City to cover the event. A native of North Tonawanda, she was crowned “Miss New York State” in 1990. Additionally, she represented the Empire State in Miss America Pageant.

Her career in broadcasting began at WJYE-FM in Buffalo where she served as a morning radio anchor for one half of the duo “Joe and Maryalice in the Morning”. In addition to her career as a journalist, she served as a French teacher in middle school. Also, she served at DeGraff Memorial Hospital as a special projects director.

In her career as a journalist, she has received: two Emmy awards which were awarded to her by the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Further, she received her first Emmy for her well-detailed report in the competitive Crime News category.

Further, she attained her second Emmy for winning the “News Anchor – On Camera Talent” category for a compilation of her anchoring and reporting work. In addition, in Buffalo, she is the first news anchor to receive that prestigious award. Furthermore, she has received an Associated Press Award for Best Interview. 

For her community service, she has received awards such as the Niagara University Alumni Founder’s Award, and Business First’s 40 Under 40 Outstanding Community Leaders. Additionally, she received service awards and recognitions. For instance, Cheektowaga Police Department Award for Dedication to Youth, “Best News Personality.”

Further, the Erie Community College President’s Award as Outstanding Communicator & Educational Advocate, Kiwanis Club of Lewiston Outstanding Community Service and Leadership in Niagara County Award, Niagara University’s Founders Award, and St Vincent DePaul Award for service to the community and the university. Also, she attained“Best Dressed TV News Personality”, and was North Tonawanda High School Alumni Wall of Fame Inductee.
