Frey presented a weekly radio program and crammed in as many calculus, physics, and earth science classes as she could while studying journalism and public speaking at Whitworth University. While pursuing her Master’s at Oregon State University, where she taught meteorology to undergraduates and conducted cutting-edge research on atmospheric flow patterns.
Melissa spent over nine years as a broadcast meteorologist for the ABC affiliate in Eugene, Oregon, before moving to Alaska in 2016. In 2010, she was certified as a broadcast meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society, the highest honor given to TV meteorologists.
Melissa enjoys taking her husband and two small children on adventures across this wonderful state. She’s still thinking about the clouds over Alaska and marveling at the spectacular sunsets.
