At ABC7, his duties included preparing and delivering forecasts for listeners, monitoring severe weather giving advance notice of problematic weather. In addition, advising news reporters on weather information and knowledge.
Prior to joining ABC7 Washington, DC, Mike served as a radio broadcast meteorologist at the weather channel from 1987 to 2006. While there, he would prepare and deliver weather forecasts for dozens of radio clients. Mike started working at Weather Channel Radio Network after he was given an offer through Joe D’Aleo which led to him becoming one of the founding members.
Throughout his career, Stinneford has received several awards which include; an award after he reported on Hurricane Opal that happened across Atlanta and lots of other awards because of his weather forecasts. Mike rides a bicycle to work on most occasions and this is influenced by his love for cycling.
