Lately, he was the emcee for a weekly televised high school quiz game show and co-anchored the evening newscasts in Rockford, Illinois for the WQRF station.
In 1988, he began his print journalism where he was working for a popular daily newspaper near his hometown in New Jersey as a movie critic and a feature writer. In addition, he was a weekend anchor and reporter for the CBS affiliate in Watertown, NY, where he got his first on-air job. Later he traveled across the country to Anchorage, Alaska for an anchor and reporter position. In 1993, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Toma got his first-morning show experience, then at NBC in Salt Lake City, followed by in Sacramento, California where he served as morning show co-host for 13 years.
During his free time, he enjoys filling in for cover bands especially when he is available. He has played in tribute bands for the Who, The Beatles, and Stones. In addition, he likes cooking having been brought up by an East Coast Italian family, and feels comfortable on a ski slope as he does playing doubles tennis.
