At the age of 13, he took the title of the youngest Weather Watcher for WSFA in Montgomery, AL, establishing valuable connections and learning from professionals in the field. Even before graduating high school, he advanced as a SkyWarn Spotter. During this time, he demonstrated his commitment to understanding and forecasting weather phenomena ranging from blizzards to tornadoes to hurricanes.

Bigbie’s reputation soared after his fast and resourceful actions during the Pine Belt tornado of January 2017. When the storm made the station’s audio useless, he used a piece of paper and a Sharpie to communicate critical information to viewers, holding up a handwritten warning, “No Sound Tornado on the Ground in Petal,” in front of the camera.
