Additionally, Rockey was awarded two Southern regional Emmy awards, with quite a number of awards from the Associated Press. His interest in becoming a meteorologist started at a very young age. At the age of seven, he was sure that he wanted to pursue journalism and specifically, meteorology. This was after he experienced a horrifying rainstorm while his entire family was at the pop-up camper in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York in the year 1972.

Patrick Rockey surgery
Rockey underwent surgery on Thursday, 12th of January, 2023. This is evidenced by a post on his Twitter account on the 17th of January, 2023. He brought to light that he was born with a heart issue, and he has never taken any form of medication or treatment until the 12th of January. The goal of the surgery was to replace one of his heart valves and part of his aorta. This is also evidenced by a post on his Instagram account on 7th July. He stated that the day marked 6 months since his Open heart surgery.
