Gigot serves at FOX News Channel (FNC) as the host of “The Journal Editorial Report” and the editorial page editor of The Wall Street Journal. He spent 14 years writing the column “Potomac Watch” prior to becoming an editor at The Wall Street Journal. In 1980, when he became a reporter covering Chicago, Illinois, his career at The Journal began.

Two years later, in Hong Kong, he became the paper’s Asian correspondent. While in Hong Kong in 1984, Gigot was placed in charge of The Wall Street Journal Asia. Under President Ronald Reagan, Gigot served as a White House Fellow from 1986 to 1987. He was a frequent guest with Jim Lehrer on The NewsHour during the 1990s, featuring in the weekly political commentary section of the program, opposite Mark Shields, the regular liberal pundit.

In 2000, for his weekly Potomac Watch column in The Wall Street Journal, Gigot won a Pulitzer Prize and became the editorial-page editor of the Journal in 2001. On the editorial pages of The Wall Street Journal, Paul Gigot has been described as leading a ‘fatwa’ against the 2012 Republican presidential candidate, Mitt Romney.

In 2017, after Lasswell began to write op-eds critical of Donald Trump, Gigot was rumored to have pushed out junior colleague Mark Lasswell of The Wall Street Journal the previous summer. Gigot declined to comment on the shift of staffing. Under the tenure of Gigot as editorial page editor and vice president, the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal was attacked for its pro-Trump stance by three left-leaning newspapers. On Fox News Channel, Gigot hosts the weekly cable show Journal Editorial Report.

When coming to his education, he attended Catholic schools and spent 12 years there. In 1973, he graduated from Abbot Pennings High School in De Pere, Wisconsin. In 1977, he graduated from Dartmouth College, summa cum laude, where he wrote for and later edited The Dartmouth.
