He showcased his athletic talents as an All-America pitcher, achieving remarkable success during his college career, including a memorable trip to the College World Series. Following his college years, Delkus embarked on a professional baseball journey as a Free Agent, signing with the Minnesota Twins organization in 1987. His talent shone brightly during the 1988 season, where he played for the double-A team in Kenosha, Wisconsin, boasting an impressive tally of 33 saves and an extraordinary ERA of 0.26. Delkus’s exceptional performance continued the following year in triple-A Orlando, where he played 140 innings, saving 10 games, and maintaining an impressive ERA of 1.87.
His outstanding achievements earned him the distinguished titles of “Minnesota Twins Minor League Player of the Year” and the Rolaids Relief Man award. Unfortunately, Delkus’s baseball career was cut short due to a severe elbow injury. Nevertheless, his time within the Minnesota Twins organization spanned six years, during which he showcased his skills and dedication to the sport.
