She released her 1st album, “For My Friends”, independently. In the year 1979, she signed with Singspiration! and released her 1st professional record, Sandi’s Song. Due to a mistake in the labeling, her name was listed as Sandi Patti, and she used that name for the next one-and-a-half decades before changing it to Sandi Patty.

Her career took off after winning two GMA Dove Awards in the year 1982 and singing backup for the Bill Gaither Trio. Two years later, she headlined her 1st national tour and gained national recognition when her performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” was included in the ABC Statue of Liberty re-dedication broadcast in the year 1986. This led to appearances on mainstream television shows like The Tonight Show and Christmas in Washington. She also sang the national anthem at the Indianapolis 500 multiple times.

In the year 1990, Patty released the popular record Another Time…Another Place, included the inspirational single “I’ll Give You Peace”. The album reached #2 on the Billboard Christian Albums chart. Patty’s concerts were extremely successful, often selling out arenas and concert halls across the United States.
