Stevens began working for NPR as a part-time newscaster for Weekend All Things Considered in 1990, while also working full-time as a news director for WCBM in Baltimore and later as an anchor/reporter for USA Today Sky Radio.
She’s also worked as a stringer for UPI and AP and has done freelance work for CNN. Stevens started her radio career in Sioux City, Iowa, for a short time. She subsequently relocated to Philadelphia, where she worked as a city hall reporter/anchor, assignment editor, and entertainment editor for WFIL-AM; as an anchor for WUSL-FM; and as an anchor/reporter for WCAU-AM, where she also periodically supplied items to CBS radio.
