She has covered major West Michigan news events over the years such as the passing of President Gerald R. Ford, and later his wife, First Lady Betty Ford, and Grand Rapids’ favorite son passing. She relocated to Grand Rapids in October 1994. In addition, she worked at WWTV 9&10 in Cadillac, WEYI-TV25 in Flint, and WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
She was named to the leadership board of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and she also supports numerous charities and organizations throughout West Michigan. Furthermore, she has been involved with station events. For instance, the annual Salvation Army Angel Tree program that provides toys for underprivileged children, the water drive for Flint residents impacted by lead-tainted water, and Nexstar’s Day of Caring initiative.
While working as an anchor, she has been awarded many awards such as Emmy for Best News Anchor in Michigan. In 2018, she was given the prestigious Silver Circle Award given to her by NATAS. In the Michigan Emmy Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences which is a women’s career organization, Inforum, is a member. Furthermore, she finished disaster preparedness training with the Grand Rapids chapter of the American Red Cross.
