Goldberg, originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, developed her interest in weather at a young age as a way to cope with her anxiety about thunderstorms and hurricanes.
In second grade, she created “Sydney’s Weather Binder,” where she collected children’s weather books and printed out Wikipedia pages on various weather phenomena, including thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hurricanes.
After graduating from University Lab School in Baton Rouge, Sydney earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography with a concentration in Disaster Science and Management from Louisiana State University. During her senior year, she actively participated in Tiger-TV, the on-campus newscast, serving as a Weather Reporter. Following her graduation, Sydney gained experience as a Student Volunteer at the National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office of New Orleans/Baton Rouge.
In August 2023, Sydney made the move from Louisiana to Mississippi to join the 16 WAPT team. She is pursuing her master’s in broadcast meteorology at Mississippi State University. In her leisure time, Sydney enjoys activities such as running, reading books, shopping online, and listening to music, particularly by Taylor Swift.
