Alexander has been at the forefront of breaking news stories and has covered a wide range of events. This includes significant moments like the hiring and retirement of Alabama football coach Nick Saban, the Natalee Holloway case, and the Joran van der Sloot extortion trial. She also covered the ordeal of West Alabama native Alex Drueke, who was captured and later released by Russian forces in Ukraine.

As a producer, Alexander was honored by the Alabama Associated Press Broadcasters Association for delivering the Best Regularly Scheduled Newscast. Additionally, during her time in Tuscaloosa, she contributed to the United Way of West Alabama. One of Alexander’s most impactful journalistic endeavors involved interviewing Anthony Ray Hinton, who had been wrongly convicted of the 1985 murders of two fast-food restaurant managers in Birmingham. Hinton spent 28 years on death row before being exonerated and released in 2015, a story that gained attention through the movie “Just Mercy.” Alexander’s coverage of Hinton earned her the Best Feature award from the Alabama Broadcasters Association in 2021.
