Later, she moved to San Antonio, where she served KABB as an anchor and health reporter. There, she broadcasted the Spurs 2003 NBA Championship and Texas Seven’s escape.
Before WAFB, Powell was the main anchor and reporter for WTVD in the Raleigh and Durham metro region of North Carolina for 16 years. There, she went to New Orleans to broadcast Hurricane Katrina. She also jumped with the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team in Laurinburg, North Carolina.
