Prior to that, he served at WINK-TV in Fort Myers, Florida as a Weekend News Anchor/Reporter for 2 years and 3 months (April 1986 – June 1988). Hauser has also worked for KAAL-TV – ABC 6 News in Albert Lea, Minnesota as a Weekend Sports/News/Weather Anchor/Reporter for 2 years and 4 months. Hauser started talking about Minnesota politics in the year 1997, after talking about police things in the Twin Cities for a while.
Throughout his career, Hauser has won many awards for his news reporting. He got Emmys; for stories that helped solve the 1970 killing of Jim Sackett (St. Paul Police Officer), and for talking about a plane crash that led to the death of Paul Wellstone (Senator). In the year 2007, Hauser got the “Chief’s Award” from the St. Paul Police Department, which is a really special honor, for his reporting on the Sackett case.
