In 2001 and 2003, McEwing was rewarded with an Emmy Award for his half-hour special “Songs of Our Progress.” During his time at FOX 11, he won seven Emmy Awards. McEwing spent 12 years working at KXTV until KTTV, then the CBS affiliate in Sacramento, where he anchored the newscasts in the morning and noon.
McEwing was also known as Washington D.C. WDSU correspondent, an affiliate of NBC in New Orleans, Louisiana, from 1980 to 1981. When coming to his education, McEwing received a Master’s degree in editorial broadcasting from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism in 1981. In 1978, he was also awarded a Bachelor of Science in Education and attended the School of Law.
