He grew up watching Evansville meteorologists like Marcia Yockey, Lloyd Lindsay Young, and Mike Maguire, and his interest in weather intensified as a result of the blizzards of 1978 and 1979, as well as the Marion, Illinois tornado in 1980.

In addition, while interning at the National Weather Service in Evansville, he attended the University of Southern Indiana. Tracy has worked as a meteorologist in several cities, including Columbus, Mississippi, Evansville, Indiana, Terre Haute, Indiana, and Harrisburg, Illinois. In addition, he worked as a reporter and photographer for the Madisonville Messenger, Harrisburg Daily Register, Gallatin County Democrat, and Evansville Courier newspapers.

Tracy is a member of the Shawneetown Fire Department who has traveled all over the country, including Chicago, Indianapolis, Washington, D.C., St. Louis, New Orleans, Charlotte, Louisville, and even back to Mississippi State University, to detail the effects of an EF-4 tornado that struck Saline and Gallatin Counties on Leap Day 2012. “I grew up in the Tri-State and my goal was to be a meteorologist in Evansville and now I hope I inspire someone watching out there to follow their goal too!”, he said.
