During his sophomore year of Weather and Climate class, though, a childhood dread of storms turned into a curiosity. Cameron began registering for as many Meteorology and Climatology classes as he could after transferring his major in early 2008. He volunteered at Eastern Illinois University’s award-winning student-run broadcast WEIU-News TV’s Watch as a result of his work with the Eastern Illinois University Weather Center.

Cameron spent the next two years working both in front of and behind the camera, getting expertise in all aspects of the newscast. In December 2010, he graduated from Eastern Illinois University and began working as a Broadcast Meteorologist at WLFI-TV in West Lafayette, Indiana. Cameron was awarded the Broadcaster Seal of Approval by the National Weather Association in July of 2015.
