Before his time at WTVR, Covil served as the Jacksonville Bureau Chief at WNCT-TV 9 from April 1989 to November 1992. Covil’s career in journalism began with his role as an Assistant News Director at WJNC – AM 1240 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. He held this position from August 1987 to April 1989, where he contributed to news production and management.
Besides working for WTVR, Covil has a franchise series known as Covil’s World, which he started in the year 2019. He serves as the host in the franchise and it airs every night on Wednesdays at 11 p.m. He has been a Tri-Cities Salvation Army Advisory Board member since the year 1992.
