Following layoffs and the privatization of civil courtrooms in Los Angeles in 2013, she came up with the concept of starting her own court reporting service, which she did with her identical twin sister, Kamryn, who is also a reporter.
During her career, Kumar has gained experience reporting cases from deposition through the courtroom. In this capacity, she is knowledgeable about the life cycle of civil cases in California, having worked on several civil and family law cases, such as those involving toxic torts, business disputes, custody, mesothelioma, and divorce.
During her time with the Los Angeles Superior Court, Kumar spearheaded the official record for influential cases involving Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, Mel Gibson and his former wife Oksana, as well as Los Angeles Dodgers owner Frank McCourt and his then-wife Jamie. She proudly served as the official court reporter for Judge Scott M. Gordon until 2012.
Kumar began playing golf when she was only ten years old with her father, who took her out on the course with him. In this capacity, she found herself as the only female playing on the men’s golf team in high school because, at that time, there was no women’s team.
