During his career, he has broadcast everything, including the Toronto Raptors’ 2019 NBA championship win and interviewed some of the world’s most influential figures. In 2023, he filed reports about the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The previous year, he went to Texas to broadcast the tragic aftermath of the school shooting in Uvalde and the controversial NRA convention in Houston.
Ghobrial went to Port aux Basques, where he covered the ruin caused by Hurricane Fiona. While there, he also exclusively spoke with residents who were nearly swept out to sea during the surge. Moreover, he covered breaking exclusive stories like the sexual assault case at St. Michael’s College School and the decades of child abuse done by members of the Basilian Fathers of Toronto.
Ghobrial won a National RTDNA Best Local Investigative News Series Award for his year-long investigation into the Basilian Fathers. Before joining CTV National News, he worked as a reporter for CityNews and CityTV for over 15 years. He started his tenure there as an assignment editor and was promoted to associate producer before he began reporting. Also, he filled virtually all roles in the newsroom from show producer, writer, to documentary director and breaking news reporter.
