The AMS John R. Hope Endowed Scholarship in Atmospheric Science (endowed by The Weather Channel) was awarded to her at Penn State, the Joel N. Meteorology and Peggy Myers Scholarship from the Meteorology Branch of PSU, and the John and Elizabeth Holmes Teas Scholarship from the PSU College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. She was awarded the Chauncey D. Holmes Award for Geology Excellence at Syracuse and was named one of the best seniors at the Whitman School of Management (Whitman Scholar).
When coming to her education, she studied at Syracuse University and Penn State University in Macungie, PA. In May 2006, at Syracuse University, she graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in both broadcast journalism and marketing. She graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in meteorology in December 2007 with distinction. Alex holds the American Meteorological Society’s Accredited Broadcast Meteorologist designation (#357).
