While at WMGT, the Georgia Association of Broadcasters recognized her with their GABBY Merit Award for “Best On-Air Personality.” Also, she was chosen as to take part in the inaugural “30 Under 30” class for the UCF Alumni Association. Castro interned at WKMG – News 6 in the fall of 2011, and she is thrilled to be back. She has worked for FM 96.5 News/Talk WDBO in Orlando, Florida as a web producer and reporter. It was while there that she reported on the Trayvon Martin shooting death and the murder trial of Casey Anthony.
When it comes to Castro’s education, she is a proud 2012 alumnus of the University of Central Florida. Castro has been passionate about journalism since she was in grade 5. She always aspired to be a news reporter. She won her school district’s “Best Co-Anchor” award, and – as they say…the rest is history.
During her leisure, she likes reading (fan of Harry Potter), hanging out with loved ones (family and friends), chilling at the pool, volunteering for charitable causes, and shopping.
