Prior to joining WMDT in Maryland, Jayanth worked for KPLR-TV in St. Louis, Missouri as a feature reporter for 1 year and 2 months. She began her career as an intern at WGN-TV, where she spent 5 months.
Over the years of her career, she has reported on many breaking stories, the efforts to revitalize Dayton City, and the exotic animal law enforcement in Ohio. While at WMDT, she won 2 Associated Press Awards for in-depth documentary coverage of a series she began known as “Delmarva’s Unsolved Crimes”, as well as the coverage of area homeless.
While working at KPLR, she received a nomination for an Emmy award for her coverage of a pop culture story. Her report focused on a program called SistaKeeper, which aims to empower young women. During her leisure time, she likes trying new local restaurants and cuisines (she is a self-proclaimed foodie!), cooking, reading, cycling, or exploring the Cincinnati area, where she gets to meet new faces.
